20 years eh.

well!

if anything came out of the short time i was able to spend at the 20th school reunion[!] its that i should keep my site updated. Everyone cyberstalks [no its not just you...or me] which means to my utmost surprise - that people read this shit. So my not-new years resolution is to do my blog. keep my site updated. get rid of that stupid banner and make another one.

richard 3

hey there - suddenly i find myself headlong into the production for QSE's Richard III at Roma st Parkland this October- directed by Tom Mcsweeney.
I am doing the musical direction, and also costumes with Ruby Drewrey as well as wrangling the wee Phoenix - so life is pretty full!!

July 2010 - Bella Phoenix

well already we're 3 and a half months into our little gem's life! Isabella Phoenix Rose was born 23rd March and life has been very full and joyous if a little vague. :]
She is powering along very happy most of the time and we feel very blessed and healed by her presence.
These next few months are looking to be pretty crazy as we head into the slam season - benna and i are co-facilitating the western qld heats of the national slam comp in Barcaldine and Stanthorpe- and Isabella is coming along for the ride. she'll be rhyming before she knows it. :]

storms and cycles of grief

well....brisbane is steaming today - it must be close to 100% humidity. my partner has escaped to the coast and i'm thinking of heading out to a creek any time soon. The storms have been amazing...after so long a drought, its incredible to watch sooo much water fall from the sky in such short spaces of time.
i have been in cycles of grief for the last few days as it comes around again, and once more the inquiry into my son's death hits a snag and we're forced to wade through another ajournment.

grey rainy day in brisvegas

hey there...its uncharacteristically grey today. was yesterday too. i'm sick to go with it, and the cold. 2 more days in vegas and i get to go home for a whole 3 weeks and sort the house out for moving. Its gonna be a hard call to move from that house...but the city calls. I have been assistant-directing the 2 casts of 'Shakespeare's Shorts' for QSE which has been great...and also training with the core which has just finished up. The big show for october - Twelfth Night - will start rehearsals at the end o june. its all very exciting. today's a bit blah though. caught the flu off someone.

vegas

hey there peoples -
for those of you not on the east coast 'vegas' means Brisbane. - bris-vegas - vegas -

"and the rain it raineth every day...." twelth night

hmm.
it seems the raineth hath been raining every day since we left and the house was shall we say - mouldy - when we got back from the hot hot dry summer of perth...we have however had a few days of sun over the weekend - all our summers come at once! and now its raining again.
someone told me its going to be raining till september the other day - and it made me a bit less overwhelmed about the thought of leaving.

back in the west

well. the wedding of benna's brother was a massive affair...big Italian catholic thing, with all the trimmings - quite amazing really.
took us all a few days to recover and then we started going to concerts and suchlike. going to the big day out tomorrow and went the police last night which was awesome...and on tues we're going to rottnest island for a holiday from the holiday.

recovering from clown school

hey there

the joy of clown

i'm about to go and bite the joyful bullet and do a weeks clown intensive with red spoon in brisbane....i'm scared. hmmm....i know, i know, interesting choice...i have to keep telling myself that i'm doing it because i'm brave, and because it is one way in the abyss of grief to find the joy again....an interesting, challenging, character building way. not quite sure if i'm completely insane or its actually a good idea...either way i guess it'll be fun. :]
